Mâcon-Igé "Grand Terroir"
Our Mâcon-Igé "Grand Terroir" is made from low lying vines in the commune of Igé, north of the town of Mâcon. The soil is composed of marl and clay on a limestone substratum, hence the minerality often present in the crus of this appellation.
Situation géographique et terroir
The history of Igé is inseparable from that of the hamlet of Domange, whose original parish centre is the church of Saint-Pierre, built around 953 by the monks of Cluny. The vineyards of the Mâcon-Igé appellation adjoin Azé to the north and Verzé to the south, where the landscape widens into a vast elongated basin. Vinification
Immediately after the harvest, the grapes are pressed in whole bunches in a pneumatic press, then we carry out a static settling of the juice for 24 hours at 12°C. The musts are then put in vats directly, the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations as well as the maturation are carried out in vats and barrels.
Lightly toasted, called blond, 15% new barrels.
