Since 1860,

Prosper Maufoux contributes to the image of excellence of Burgundy wines.

Now pioneer of authentic and modern hospitality on the Côte de Beaune, Prosper Maufoux is a great traditional Burgundy house, but resolutely turned towards the future.

A family Story

Depuis 1860

It was in 1860 that Prosper Maufoux, a notary, left his job to create the eponymous wine house. Success was not long in coming and the company moved into a private mansion on the main square of Santenay.

The family winery grew and became a world-renowned name. Export success was considerable, particularly in the United States, where Prosper Maufoux established a partnership in 1947 with The House of Burgundy, an importer based in New York. In 1994, Robert Fairchild, then president of this leading American partner, bought the House of Prosper Maufoux.

In 2010, the Piffaut Family, whose winegrowing roots in Burgundy go back over two hundred years, took over Maison Prosper Maufoux. The family then acquired the Château de Saint-Aubin and its exceptional vineyards. The building is now the new wine house for Prosper Maufoux. The estate, with 9 hectares of mythical terroirs in property, overlooking the Clos du Château, is located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, on the road to the Grands Crus.

The Winery

Cradle of the Great Wines of the House

Prosper Maufoux's winery, built from scratch under the main courtyard of the Château, is exceptional. It offers a direct view of the Clos du Chateau vines thanks to spectacular glass openings, the shapes of which are reminiscent of the geological formations resulting from the erosion of the limestone, the matrix of the Burgundy terroir.
