Prosper Maufoux
Grande Maison de Vins de Bourgogne
Prosper Maufoux is an historical wine estate in Burgundy, housed in the Château de Saint-Aubin, on the route des Grands Crus.
Founded in 1860, the house has largely participated in the development of Burgundy wines in the world, especially in the United States.
Its exceptional vineyards are extended in the mythical terroirs of the Côte de Beaune: Saint-Aubin, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The family estate also extends to the Côte de Nuits, the Côte Châlonnaise and the Mâconnais.
Wines style
Elegance, finesse and character are the key words at the heart of the Prosper Maufoux style. In a modern, non interventionist approach, our slow extractions and gentle vinifications reveal charming and delicate wines. Our long ageing process, in French oak barrels, with fine graining and light toasting, enhances the complexity of the wines.
Our winemakers, with the expert advice of Nadine Gublin are committed to producing expressive white wines, full of freshness, energy and tension, and atypical, crisp, silky and elegant red wines.
An outstanding Estate
Located south of Beaune, in the heart of the route des Grands Crus, the Prosper Maufoux wine estate is spread around the Château de Saint-Aubin in the famous Côte des Blancs.
Its 9 hectares of vines, mostly planted with Chardonnay, are managed using sustainable and responsible viticulture, certified HVE3.
The Clos du Château, classified in the Saint-Aubin Premier Cru appellation, and the adjoining parcels of the estate, constitute an area of outstanding terroirs, producing exceptional wines: Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru, Meursault 1er Cru, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru and Saint-Aubin 1er Cru.

The Great White Wines of Burgundy
DécouvrezOur White Wines
Burgundy is often described as the cradle of the world's greatest white wines. It is home to appellations that are as prestigious as they are rare. Although the aromatic nuances are multiple, the whites of Burgundy are characterised by their elegance, a minerality and a depth that becomes even more subtle when kept for longer periods. The village of Chardonnay, located in the Mâcon region, is said to be the origin of the name of the famous grape variety. Planted in the four corners of the world, Chardonnay adapts quite easily to its environment. But nowhere else does it express itself with such magnificence, purity and finesse as in the Climats of the Burgundy vineyards. The Côte de Beaune offers us wines whose length in the mouth and aromatic intensity are unparalleled.

The Great Red Wines of Burgundy
DécouvrezOur Red Wines
The Burgundy vineyard, made up of "climats", which are precisely delimited plots of land, is extremely rich in aromas. The pinot noir grape variety, native to Burgundy, gives us the greatest red wines of Burgundy. It reflects all the nuances of the terroir from which it comes. Thus, certain appellations will offer you dense wines while others will present wines that are very delicate. However, there are some common characteristics: the intense colour tends to become paler over the years; the red fruit aromas become more intense, with hints of undergrowth and animal notes; the tannins become softer with time.
