Rully 1er Cru "Les Champs Cloux" 2022
The village of Rully, the birthplace of Chardonnay in the Côte Chalonnaise, also produces some remarkable red wines. Its rather chalky soil allows the Pinot Noir to express its fruity nôtes and gives it a lovely freshness.
Situation géographique et terroir
The Rully vineyard is located on the Côte Chalonnaise, more precisely between the Bouzeron and Mercurey appellations. The vines here are planted on gently sloping hillsides at an altitude of around 300 metres. The village is one of the most important cradles of Chardonnay in Burgundy. The appellation produces white Premier Crus that rival those of the best villages on the Côte.
Vinification
The grapes are sorted, then de-stemmed and conveyed to the vat using conveyor belts, always with the aim of obtaining whole grapes rather than crushed ones. A pre-fermentation cold maceration takes place at 10°C for 4 to 5 days. During this phase, the grape's aromas and components such as anthocyanins are released. This is followed by fermentation, during which the cap is punched down daily to extract the tannins. Vatting lasts 21 days. The wine is then matured in oak barrels for 15 months, 20% of which are new, lightly toasted barrels known as ‘blonde’.
Light blond toast, 20% new barrels.
