Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
It is an emblematic vineyard in the Côte de Nuits, it occupies a large part of the commune of Vougeot, between Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée. The Clos is itself subdivided into “lieu-dit”, cultivated by about 80 different owners.
Situation géographique et terroir
Former residence of the monks of Cîteaux, the seat of the Fraternity of the Knights of the Wine-Tasters’ Cup, restored by Léonce Bocquet, the Château du Clos Vougeot is surrounded by a vast 50-hectare vineyard protected by five-century-old walls. It is an emblematic vineyard in the Côte de Nuits, it occupies a large part of the commune of Vougeot, between Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée. Since the 12th century, the Cistercian monks of Cîteaux have been cultivating the vines and building the winery with four monumental capstan presses as well as the large cellar with a capacity of 2000 pieces of wine. Vinification
Immediately after the harvest, the grapes are pressed in whole bunches in a pneumatic press, then we carry out a static settling of the juice for 24 hours at 12°C. The musts are then put directly into barrels and the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out
